Situated in the heart of Lake Oswego, the ‘Travel Desk’ was founded by Julie Shipley in 1965. Back then, a desk was pretty much all that was needed. Julie’s attention to detail, creativity and a desire to help others made selling travel a natural choice for her. The original ‘Team Julie’s’ consisted of three members, who all worked hard making travel arrangements for their clients to any place in the world or around it. Over the past fifty years the travel industry and the way people travel has changed considerably. By keeping up with this ever-changing industry, Julie’s Travel Desk has not only survived but has thrived. Originally, almost every journey started with a visit to a local travel agency. These days there are other options available, but by offering expert advice, while providing the highest quality of customer service, we continue to add value to every travel experience that we help to create.
In 1972, Sandi Hanna, Julie's daughter joined the team and learned the travel business from the best, while working alongside her mother as her mentor. Sandi took over management and continues to lead by the same example her mother set. Today, we have ten travel specialists who each come with their own set of unique skills and experiences. Along with our talented staff, we rely on the highest quality of travel partners, suppliers, tools and resources and continue to be the best that we can be.

Sandi Hanna - Owner/Manager

SANDI HANNA - Owner/ Manager & Certified Travel Counselor
JTD Team Member Since 1967

Sandi has been involved with Julie’s Travel Desk since 1967 and started her full time career here in 1976. Over the years as travel has changed so drastically she has handled all phases of travel. She started The Cruise Desk in 1991, which was set up to handle our extensive cruise clientele with the best possible pricing and additional cruise benefits. She opened our office travel store in 2000, providing luggage and accessories for any trip. Sandi is so proud of her team and is confident to say that Julie’s Travel Desk has some of the most experienced and dedicated travel counselors in the industry. If you ever have problems, questions, concerns or suggestions please contact Sandi so we can assure your reservations are handled to meet or exceed your expectations.


HOLLIS DAVIS - Elite Cruise Counselor, Hawaii, Alaska & Australia/ New Zealand Specialist
JTD Team Member Since 2000

The goal to “make people’s dreams come true” is the reason Hollis Davis first entered the travel industry and this reason has never changed. In the past Hollis has handled travel arrangements for all corners of the world, but she is now focusing her time on helping clients plan cruise vacations, as well as land and sea vacations to Hawaii, Alaska and Australia/New Zealand. Cruising has been her first love for nearly 40 years and Hollis has earned her ECC (Elite Cruise Counselor) Certification with CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association). Her personal cruise experience includes over 135 cruises ranging from river boats to mega cruise ships and most every type of vessel in between. Her other areas of specialty are Hawaii (she has been there too many times to count), Alaska (via cruise ship, on tours and independently) and most recently Australia/New Zealand where she has earned Aussie Specialist Certification through the Australian Tourist Board. She joined Julie’s Travel Desk in 2000 after managing an agency in downtown Portland for 18 years. In addition to Hawaii, Alaska and Australia, her travels include the British Isles, Europe, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Central and South America. So if a cruise is in your future, you should be talking to Hollis!

MICHELLE CLOUD - Travel Consultant
JTD Team Member Since 2003

Michelle began her travel agent career in 1995, and joined Julie’s Travel Desk in 2003. While her first love is Ireland and the British Isles, she also greatly enjoys cultural and ecological travel experiences. Michelle can turn her hand to any type of travel, independent or organized, anywhere in the world, and she is adept at leisure, corporate, and group travel. In addition to Ireland and the British Isles, her travels include Vietnam, Thailand, Zimbabwe, Peru, Mexico, Hawaii, Fiji, and the Cook Islands. She can help you create your own travel memories, wherever you wish to go!


MELINDA WITTMAN - Mexico and Caribbean Specialist
JTD Team Member Since 2005

Melinda started her career in Arizona as a Travel Consultant in 1998. In 2005 she moved back to her hometown and joined Julie’s Travel Desk. Having traveled extensively in Mexico since she was a teenager she is our Mexico Specialist. Destination Weddings to Mexico are one of her passions. She recently received the Tahiti Tiare certification and looks forward to helping her clients with their travels to Tahiti and her Polynesian islands. She is also a destination specialist for the Hawaiian Islands. She has gone to the “College of Disney Knowledge” and received her mouse ears from Mickey. Melinda also loves sending her clients on cruises all over the world and is a commodore with Princess Cruise Line.


GAIL JACKSON - Travel Consultant
JTD Team Member Since 2003

Gail started in the travel business in 1976 and spent the majority of her career at Curtis Travel. She was co-owner of Curtis Travel the 10 years prior to joining JTD. Gail’s travels include 40 countries on 5 continents, Australia being her favorite. Gail is in the office four days a week, taking Thursdays off.

JAMIE ANDERSON - Luxury Travel Specialist
JTD Team Member Since 2011

Jamie operates the newest division of Julie's Travel - i do Luxury Travel which focuses on providing once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences for happy couples, including destination weddings, honeymoons, anniversary trips and romantic getaways.
Originally from Scotland, Jamie moved to Oregon in 2010. After many years in retail sales management, he became a full time travel specialist shortly after arriving in the US. Initially, he focused on introducing our clients to the UK, Ireland and Italy. As these are some of the most romantic places in the world, he soon found himself working with many of our honeymoon couples who agree. Through their recommendations, the number of honeymoons and weddings he assisted with increased dramatically and his expertise evolved to include more destinations closer to home. He now sends many happy couples to Mexico, the Caribbean and the Pacific Islands and primarily deals with romantic getaways and destination weddings. In 2014, Jamie became an AMResorts Master Agent and a Certified Specialist for Sandals and Beaches Resorts. He loves working closely with these luxury brands as their all inclusive accommodations continually exceed our client's expectations.

Leah Wilding - Travel Specialist
JTD Team Member Since 2017

After many years as a Corporate Travel Specialist, Leah returned to the Leisure Travel market in 2016, which reignited her love of helping people plan the vacation/event of their dreams. Leah's extensive personal travel and attention to detail make her highly qualified to be trusted with a clients investment in travel.

As a Corporate Travel Counselor with over 20 years of industry experience, Leah is accustomed to working with corporate travelers to plan and coordinate their unique travel needs. She has always been a top producer and has been highly successful at cultivating repeat business into longstanding, loyal customers. As a manager, through persistence and leadership by example, Leaha has built highly productive, cohesive sales teams.


CAROLYN SHIPLEY - Travel Consultant
JTD Team Member Since 2007

Carolyn comes to Julie’s with an extensive background in the hotel business. She worked in management for Westin Hotels for over 20 years. She started her career in the travel industry in 1973 at The St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, where she was hired as the first woman on the Management Training Program. She held several management positions in the Front Office including Reservations where she oversaw a department managing 1200 rooms and handling accommodations and arrangements for VIPS and dignitaries ranging from Presidents to Royalty. In 1985 she was selected to be on the pre-opening team for The Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson Arizona. For eight years she served as a Catering & Conference Services Manager, planning and organizing events for a world-class resort. Before returning to Oregon she also spent time working in Conference Convention Services at The Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage, California and The Westin Santa Clara in Santa Clara, California. She moved back to Oregon and joined the team in 2006. Carolyn is now our receptionist, Spa Specialist and she looks after our wonderful Luggage and Travel Accessory Store.


MICHELLE PRATS - Vacation Specialist To The Sun
JTD Team Member Since 1999

Michelle has worked in both wholesale and retail travel over the last 20 years. Her travels are extensive and include the Hawaiian Islands, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Her European travels include Italy, Switzerland and France (what about Germany). She spent a month trekking in Katmandu, Nepal, Thailand and India Darjeeling. Specializing in vacations to Hawaii, the South Pacific, and the Caribbean, Michelle would love to help you arrange your dream vacation to the sun.

PAULA NOVAK - Hawaii & Europe Specialist
JTD Team Member Since 2002

Paula started her travel career with United Airlines in 1974 and was with United until 1999. During that time she worked in reservations, airport ticket counter, city ticket office, and Sato Travel. At Sato Travel she held the position of branch manager at Mare Island Naval Shipyard which handled travel arrangements for civilian and military personnel. Paula lived in Madrid, Spain (on furlough from United) and taught tennis at the US Air Force base. From there she spent 6 months in Cambridge, England. She was able to travel extensively thru Europe and now has put her knowledge to good use. Specializing in Hawaii and Europe, but she also loves planning cruises.
